STEMteachersPHX is hosting an Earth Science Saturday Session on the Saturday before Earth Day! Join us for activities you can take back to your classroom and use with your students. Our sessions are designed to make your busy life as a teacher easier!
Maricopa County Air Quality Department with Jenny Franks
Grades 6-12: This investigation will be taken from the Kids Making Sense curriculum. Participants will learn about particle pollution in the air and use the Engineering design process to create a particle pollution collector using inexpensive, readily available materials. Grades 3-5: This investigation is taken from Up in the Air, Maricopa County’s air pollution education program. Project WET with Sandra Hurlbut
Water Conservation … We’ve all heard the term, but is it really just accomplished by turning the water off when you brush your teeth? Engage in STEM lessons with Arizona Project WET that evolve students’ conception of household water conservation technologies and facilitate student’s visualizing and quantifying the impact of leaking faucets - including money down the drain! Empowering students to employ simple, inexpensive solutions to a common problems inspires them to become stewards of Arizona’s vital water resources.

A data centered classroom isn't just about student grades. This presentation will help you find and use real life data to teach middle school science concepts and standards including plate tectonics, climate, and atmosphere.
